Privacy Policy

The short version. We collect what's needed to run your account and your learning: your name and email, what you've bought, your progress, your quiz scores and the notes you write. Payment card details go to Stripe, never to us. We don't sell your data, and we don't advertise to you.

2. What we collect
You give us
- Account details: first and last name, email address, and a password (stored only as an encrypted hash — we never see it).
- Optional profile details: phone number, occupation and a short biography, if you choose to add them.
- Your own writing: reflection notes on lessons and any course reviews you post.
- Correspondence: what you send us by email.
Created as you use the Portal
- Purchases: what you bought, the amount, the date, and the access it granted.
- Learning records: courses you're enrolled in, lessons completed, quiz attempts and scores, and certificates issued.
- Lesson views: which lesson was opened and when, kept so we can spot bulk copying of course material.
- Session information: a marker of your current sign-in, used to enforce one active session per account.
We never hold
Card numbers, bank details or any payment credentials. Those go directly to Stripe.

4. Who else sees it
We don't sell personal information, and we don't share it for advertising. We use a small number of providers who process data on our behalf:
- Supabase — database, accounts and file storage.
- Vercel — hosting and delivery of the website.
- Stripe — payments, subscriptions and refunds. Stripe is an independent controller of the payment data it holds; see its own privacy policy.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to establish or defend legal claims.
If a certificate is checked through our verification page, the person checking sees only the certificate number, the holder's name, the course, the date it was issued, and whether it's valid — and the score only if the holder chose to show it.
5. Where it's stored
Data is held on servers in the United States. If you're in the UK, EU or elsewhere, your information is transferred there under the safeguards our providers offer, including standard contractual clauses.
6. How long we keep it
- Account, progress and certificates: while your account is open, and for as long as a certificate you hold may need verifying.
- Purchase records: seven years, for tax and accounting.
- Lesson view logs: 12 months.
- Closed accounts: deleted or anonymised within 90 days of closure, apart from records we must keep by law.
7. Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of your data, or send it elsewhere in a portable format;
- correct anything that's wrong — you can edit most of it yourself in Settings;
- delete your account and data;
- stop marketing emails, at any time;
- restrict or object to certain processing.
Email support@amilynnecarroll.com and we'll respond within 30 days. If you're in the UK or EU, you may also complain to your data protection authority. California residents have rights under the CCPA, including to know, delete and opt out of any "sale" of personal information — we don't sell it.
8. Cookies and similar storage
We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. The Portal stores a sign-in token and some preferences in your browser so you stay signed in and the site works as you left it. Clearing your browser storage signs you out.
9. Children
The Portal is for adults and isn't directed at anyone under 18. If we learn that a child has created an account, we'll delete it.
10. Changes
If we change this policy in a way that materially affects you, we'll tell you by email or in the Portal before it takes effect.
